This time of year especially, the Iceman course is known a bit affectionately (and a bit frustratingly) as the ‘Sandman’. In northern Michigan, our soil is more beach than forest, and with so many months of dry, hot weather, the Iceman course and most other trails are just about as loose as they get by mid-September.

Early Iceman Out'n'Back Recon: Early Course Updates!

This past Sunday saw the first big Out’n’Back of the season, with over 70 riders joining up for a chilly but sunny day in the woods. And it really did feel a bit like Iceman; the temperature as we unloaded bikes at Timber Ridge was 44 degrees!
